English Guide for YEAH Program Participants Guide for Online Competition
Welcome to the YEAH Online Innovation Competition! Ready to turn your ideas into impactful solutions? This guide will help you choose the right challenge, define your audience, and create a winning plan. Follow these steps to stand out!
✅ Step 1: Choose a Good Challenge & Opportunity A strong challenge is the foundation of your idea. Here’s how to pick one:
Look for Real Problems: Explore issues and opportunities in the food chain: farming, processing, distribution, retail, food safety, sustainability.
Check Relevance: Does it connect to food security, safety, or health (SDG 3)?
Assess Impact: Will solving this problem help many people or improve the environment?
Feasibility: Can your team realistically create a solution with available resources?
💡 Pro Tip: Start by asking: “What frustrates people in the food production industry? What can we improve?”
✅ Step 2: Define Your Target Audience Your idea must serve a specific group. To define them:
Who is Affected? Farmers, students, restaurants, families, etc.
What Do They Need? Lower costs? Safer food? Easier access?
Gather Insights: Use surveys, interviews, or online research to understand their habits and pain points.
Example:
Problem: High meat consumption → Target Audience: Young Koreans who want healthier diets but love traditional flavors.
✅ Step 3: Craft Your Big Idea Your Big Idea is the unique solution to the problem. It should be:
Innovative – New approach or technology
Impactful – Improves lives or the environment
Simple to Explain – One sentence should describe it
Examples:
AI-based school meal safety system using image recognition
Plant-based Korean dishes for public health
Formula: Problem + Insight + Creative Solution = Big Idea
✅ Step 4: Build Your Implementation Plan Your plan shows how you will make it happen:
Step 1: Build the Solution: What tools, technology, or partners do you need?
Step 2: Test & Launch: How will you test your idea? Where will you start?
Step 3: Scale & Sustain: Can it grow? How will it stay eco-friendly and socially responsible?
Example Plan:
Develop a prototype app for smart greenhouses
Partner with local farmers for testing
Expand to rural communities nationwide
✅ Step 5: Prepare Your Deliverables Your submission is your chance to shine! Make sure it’s clear, concise, and visually appealing. Here’s what you need:
Video (Under 3 Minutes): Tell your story in a short, engaging video. Highlight the problem, your Big Idea, and why it matters. Keep it simple and authentic—no need for fancy production, just clarity and passion.
Presentation (Max 7 Slides): Structure your slides to guide the judges through your journey: Problem → Target Audience → Big Idea → Implementation Plan.
Infographic (Max 2 Pages): Use visuals to summarize your concept. Think diagrams, flowcharts, or key stats that make your idea easy to grasp at a glance.
Optional Extras: Mock-ups, prototypes, or design sketches can make your idea more tangible. If you have them, include them!
💡 Pro Tip: Judges love clarity. Avoid jargon, use visuals, and make sure your materials tell a compelling story.
